How to change the server MOTD via server.properties
This tutorial shows how to change the MOTD (message shown in the server list) by editing server.properties.

Steps:

Open the panel by clicking HERE and enter the server you want to edit.

Go to Files and find server.properties. (If it doesn’t exist, restart the server so the file is created.)

Open the file and locate the motd= line (lowercase). Edit only this line.

Use the MOTD Generator to build your custom MOTD.
- For plain text (no colors), you can write directly after motd=.

Copy the generated text according to your server type:
- Vanilla: use the Vanilla output (Unicode escapes like
\u00A7
). - With plugins (Spigot/Paper): use the Spigot output (codes with
§
).

Paste the text after the equals sign on the MOTD line. Example: motd=\u00A71\u00A7lBedHosting.com.br
- For two lines, use
\n
(e.g.,motd=Line 1\nLine 2
). - If special characters don’t render properly, prefer the

Save the file and restart the server to apply the changes.
Done! Your MOTD will show in the server list as configured.
